NC24: Info for fuel tank rubber and cable fixing needed

Post by Faxe400 » Mon Oct 07, 2019 8:16 am

Hello together,

the restauration of my VFR is nearly finished. But I still need some Information:

1) Where are these rubber parts from the pic placed on the fuel tank? They should be between tank and frame, so it must be on lower side. If somebody has the original tank (Rothmans prefered), please post a pic.

2) I have got a M6 drill hole at the upper part of the frame. It is above the triangle where clutch and throttle cables are fed through. I guess there is some part to fix them to the frame. Please post a pic of this also.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Axel

I need a complete Rothmans set … or someone doing the paint job and the stickers.

Searching the internet, I found a pic with the rubber parts. But nothing about fixing cables.

The images aren't displayed but it sounds like you are missing the air ducts and their brackets which locate onto the frame by a peg into the hole you describe.

I've got the brackets. Above the left side bracket is the possibility to mount something with a M6 screw. I'm searching for this part.

Hope this link works. The other pics were in a Forum and I could see them when I'm logged in.

I think this is for a clip which secured the hydraulic brake hose on the earlier NC21. I've just had a look at the part diagrams and you can make it out on the following two images.

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. They used it for hydraulic clutch on NC21.

I will made a clamp for my NC24 to hold all 3 cables. My plan is to have no pressure from them on the bracket. I think, if I leave them free the bracket and air duct will have to hold the cables and maybe pop out of the frame.

Only just realised I put brake instead of clutch but you know what I meant
I ran my NC24 with a hydraulic clutch in the past and used a “P” clip to secure the hose at that location. I’ve since gone back to the original cable set up after problems.
I think it’s a good idea to make a clamp for the cables to prevent any pressure on the air duct - I’ll have a look at that myself

What problems did you have with hydraulic clutch as I'm thinking of doing this to my nc30...

I'd go ahead with the conversion, mine was a bit of an odd problem. I was pleased with it at first but over time it developed a "vague" feeling which didn't help in heavy traffic. I suspected air in the system but it was ok and changing fluid didn't help. Then one day the biting point was all over the place and when I took the piston assembly out I the found the rubber seal was breaking up. The slave was ok. I'd originally carefully serviced the MC with an after market repair kit (may be a moral there!) - I can't remember where i got it from though.
