RC30 hub into nc30 swing

Post by ligurt » Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:02 pm

Have anyone of you ever fitted an rc30 hub/sprocket carrier into an nc30 swing? I'm planning to fit either a rc30 HRC 5.5x18 or a nc30 HRC 4X18" wheels and I know both of them need some works to fit on the nc30 hub.

No, that doesn`t work, the RC30 eccentric hub is wider and the axle is longer.

If you want to use an RC30 wheel without having to cut lumps out of it you just need to make some modified disc bolts. You need to fit the bolts the other way round (head on the right, nut on the left) and the heads must be shallow enough to sit flush with the drive surface of the axle. M8 bolts with low profile heads are available commercially but even those have heads which are 5mm deep and you will need to machine them down to 3mm for this conversion.

Thanks Rick, as always precise and precious. I'm determined to make a narrow 180/50/17 fit on the nc30 swing without move the wheel on the right.
Have you experienced some like attempt? Thank you

What do you mean by a "narrow" 180/50/17? The "180" part of the number refers to the width of the tyre in mm - so a 180 tyre is always 180mm and you can't get a "narrow" one?

I am happy to be proved wrong, but I think a 160 tyre is the widest you can fit without getting clearance issues on the swing arm or stepping the wheel over which then puts the rear wheel out of alignment.

You can find 150mm large 167mm as per the dunlop sprtmax or 180mm effectively large 172mm. 180 is nominal but often it doesn't rapresent the real measure.
