hi all, my brother and I recently rebuilt my nc30 finally have it back to working order, now tos making a weird noise at around 1000-1800 rpm, my brother reckons it sounds like a chain rattle noise, and i was thinking well the only chain i can think of thats in the engine is the oil pump one, any chance it could of stretched due to the size and now its to lose?, or is there a tensioner in there somewhere?
thanks i advance

Check clutch..could be basket nut loose....the plates could be rattling...tends to happen at low/idle revs...never heard of oil pump chain rattling but is possible I guess...

oil pump chains are always super loose on the 30, i wonder how they stay on sometimes.

does it make the noise when clutch is pulled in?

could be somethign daft too like an exhaust header rattling, had a weird buzzing noise that was a loose clamp before.

The oil pump chain doesn't run under a great tension there is a bit of slack on any I've seen there's no tensioner as such the main thing is its running on both sprockets without slack as richyrd5 said check the clutch basket for wear movement etc.
