nc30 engine rebuild

Post by krisztian_andre » Sun Feb 28, 2016 6:19 pm

Hi,

I bought this engine block today and the seller claims that the piston rings, main bearings and connecting rod bearings have been replaced. The engine block is incomplete and comes with the parts seen in the photos.

My plan is to strip the parts missing from it (heads, sensors, generator, waterpump, sump side covers and so on) from my old engine and use them to build this one up.

My old engine is running ok but is down on power (49Hp) and is eating 1l of oil or more per 1000km. What parts do I need to get for this build?

Here's the block that I bought:

Sounds like you just need a gasket set.
Make sure you use OEM Head gaskets.

Cool.

I will also need to refresh my old heads. What's the recommended method of removing carbon deposits, what kind of lapping paste should I use and do I have to remove the camshafts to lap the valves and replace the stem seals?

How about Vesrah gaskets? I've heard they were the original supplier of these parts.

This will require a complete head strip yes.
Fine paste will do you.

What about rebuilding the head. Do you normally have to measure or replace valve guides?
