Zxr400 fork conversion

Evening guys and girls finally got all my goodies sorted to build my race bike I'm doing a zxr fork conversion and need to alter the lock stops on the bike just wondering how people on here have modified theirs ?? Thanks

this is a really old "modification" to do though, and still costs quite a bit of money depending on machining abilities for quite limited returns, although some people do like the upside down look.
there are much more choices of forks available that can be made to fit that are good upgrades to replacing with some zxr400 forks.

Hi I have the forks and yokes fitted to the bike already just wanted some ideas on what to do to modify the lock stops as the zxr yoke lock stops are a lot further away from the frame !

Get someone to weld some new lugs onto the yoke, prep and repaint. Job done

Drill and tap a 6mm thread in the frame where the NC fork stops normally hit,
Using a nut and bolt first put the nut on the bolt,Turn the bolt in the hole then you can adjust the bolt to where you need it then lock in place with the nut,Longer bolt less lock,Shorter bolt more lock,
Just make sure you drill the hole at the right angle.

If its already done then as already been suggested.. you can drill and tap some bolts in there with nuts to adjust them like a chain adjuster, or you can get new parts welded on.
Not a modification I'd do to an NC30 myself unless I had some ZXR400 SP forks knocking around, they might be worthwhile fit, especially if going for period correct stuff.

Thanks for the replys. The conversion is on a race bike so not fussed about period correct stuff as its been modified a fair bit anyway needed some new forks as the old nc ones were shagged and had these laying around from a old project

sounds good. especially if you have stuff knocking around and what not then its no trouble. However, zxr400 forks sometimes fetch a lot of money and people end up paying over the odds to put zxr400 forks on an nc30 because others have done it in the past, but if you don't have anything at all then id deffo look into other options that are now available..

Yea I did think about selling them and getting some zx6r forks or triumph 675 forks as I have a couple sets of brembo radial callipers laying around but they are mega expensive on eBay might be a future project lol just can't wait to get the bike built I have had it for 9 years and have never ridden it

but now I have had a nice big delivery of parts I just need to pull my finger out and get it finished haha

Slight hijack -
I have just finished working up a conversion kit to fit ZX-6R (ZX636) forks on to the NC30 frame - it requires either stock ZXR400L yokes plus my headstock adaptor kit or my custom ZXR400L/NC30 billet yokes and uses either ZX636 B1H (2003/4) or C1H (2005/6) fork legs and calipers. The best thing is that, unlike the ZXR400L fork swap, this one the uses the stock NC30 front wheel and discs so there`s £300 saved by not having to buy 310mm rotors.
The B1H Kawasaki only has 280mm discs as standard so it requires an extra set of spacers for the brake calipers to suit the NC30 discs, the CIH forks don`t need those spacers. The CIH forks also have more sophisticated damping system and if you are looking to colour match a Black/Red NC, find a breaker dismantling a ZX636 `SE` version and you can have the forks with silver legs, black bottoms and red adjusters...
