I posted this question on the V4 forum and thought I would inquire here also. Similar systems. At idle, My tach reads 4K rpm. Running through the gears, the tach is off the scale. Bike runs perfectly. 1992 NC30. Any ideas? Thanks and Cheers, Robert

Check for corrosion on the connectors and also check the earths sounds like it's shorted somewhere.
