Did the reg/rec wiring mod...

...took me about 90mins - most of which was me trying to get the new spade terminal for +tive into the connector and then resoldering it...and in that time I also fitted some heated grips (most time consuming task there was figuring where to mount the control unit!)

Anyways - the results across the battery are now:

Idle - 13.6V
2500 upwards - 14.7V

Oh yeah, and hot hands. :)

Thanks Magg for the advice & assistance on the wiring.

Is this just adding a wire from the reg/rec red to the battery positive, and reg/rec black to battery negative?

It was red/white for +tive and green for -tive....but yes.

did you fit an inline fuse?

what have you done with the other wiring?

I'm on the cusp of relocating my reg rec to the steering damper mount nd running direct from genny to reg rec and also will the be fitting a fresh neg cable to the battery and then an inline 30a fused wire to the positive.

the new reg rec is huge and though it won't abut the frame, it will be in much more free flowing air and so with the new wiring I am hoping for a lack of burning.

Yes, 30A inline fuse. The other wiring - I carefully removed the spade connectors from the terminal block and then snipped them off the wires. I'd soldered new spade connectors onto the new wiring, which I then put into the terminal block.

The old wires got heat shrink over the ends - then folded back on themselves and taped up with electrical tape.

What kind of figures where you getting before as a comparison?
Any pics? Sounds like a worthwhile mod.

From this thread (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=49827)
Checking the voltages (across the battery) this morning:
- bike switched off - 12.52V
- bike on lights but no engine - 12.4V
- bike on at idle - 14.2V
- bike revved above 5000rpm - 13.5V
Sorry...no pics. It is a very simple mod to do though- just take the rear fairing off...disconnect the socket from the reg/rec...remove the red/white & green wires...put new ones in their place direct to the battery (via a fuse).

I'll take some pics when I next have the bike in bits.
