Hi, just riding back in this storm earlier, bikes been running fine just got it back from the garage. It had some work on the electrics done but mostly headlights and a few other minor bits.
So, riding along and all of a sudden it would take rev past 4000rpm, starts sounding like a lawnmower and just generally starts acting very odd. So I had no option to pull over for maybe a minute tops and suddenly the engine cuts out completely.
Start the standard procedure to get it going again and it just will not start on the button, no matter how much choke or anything that would normally work. Battery dies and I start trying to bump start it, tries to turn over in second but falls flat, first produced some pretty erm, interesting sounds :/

So I checked the fuses, all fine, can't see any issues with the fuel supply and the air box is fine. Cards see good to, recently cleaned.
I am completely stuck

Probally regulator/rectifier on the way out...check that first.also check vacuem hose on tap.m

Sure, I'll take a look over the weekend and see if I can check the charging system out. Will try a new battery first as mine was deffo on its way out anyway. Fuel was running fine, did check that, plus it would be a bit odd if only the front cylinders dropped and not the rear two at the same time if it was fuel related.
Hopefully its electrical but I won't know the full extent of the problem till I can tear it apart over the weekend. Slightly dreading checking the loom over as the mechanic chopped into it all over the place T_T So might have to replace that anyway. Would a damaged reg cause something like a coil pack to burn out?

When it comes to electrics anything can happen mate!!.but if its been chopped into lately then it could be something to do with it!

Chances are something got wet in the storm... I'd start removing connectors and checking splice points for moisture or corrosion..
