New NC30 Rearset Problems

Post by Bchamen » Tue Jan 13, 2015 5:44 pm

Hi Fellas,

Got a bit of a problem here. Story goes I dropped my bike a couple of months back and broke my gear selector. Thought I would be 'smart' and order a new set off Ebay. Ie http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-Adjust ... OC:US:3160

In any case, the post office here in South Africa decided it wants to be on strike so I only just received them today.

It was at this point I realized I stuffed up. They have arrived with Male Rose Joints and my 'Gear Selector Thingy' has a Ball joint. See pic.

Do I need to acquire a new 'Gear Selector Thingy' or is there some way I can engineer this to work?

Thanks in advance.

Easy fix - assuming that those male rose joints are a handed pair (they ought to be) just remove the l/h thread one and replace it with a suitable length of left hand threaded 6mm stainless rod Loctited in place and this will then screw into your stock front rose joint. I`m sure that you can find what you need over there but if not I can supply ready threaded rod.

Alternatively, the stock rose joint is only rivetted into the front arm so you can carefully grind/drill/punch it out then fit the rearset rod `as is` by boltng it to the original front arm...
