NC29 Temp gauge dead

Post by AndyC89 » Thu Jan 08, 2015 9:08 pm

Anybody else experienced this?

Fan kicks in and works fine.

The gauge is also working as I have earthed the wire at the thermostat housing and it shot up as you would expect

The problem is that when the bike is running the gauge doesn't budge at all! I am putting this down to either a faulty sender or thermostat but am asking others to find out firstly if you have had the same issue and secondly what remedied it? A new thermostat is 50 quid so don't want to buy one, spend all the time installing it for it to not be the solution.

I spoke to a motorbike mechanic who seemed under the impression that the sender and thermostat itself are not separate?? I cant see how this is possible though...

Over to you guys :P

I had this on a 1000 exup years ago and it was the sender on thermostat housing.i think your mechanic means they are not seperate as in there part of the housing(sender and stat in the same place).

Thanks for that. I have sourced a sender unit (Like hens teeth!!!) and have a thermostat ordered. If that doesn't sort it I don't know what will!

I would have held back on the stat if it costs that much!!if the gauge is working it can only be sender or wiring.but good luck and let us know how you get on!

Will do Richy.

The bike is a project and the temp gauge is the last thing on the list before I button her back together and do a write up on here. While I have the bike off the road I may as well do the stat.
