NC30 Gearbox vs NC35 Gearbox

Which is the better gearbox, purely track based bike, I thought it was the NC35 due to its better first gear ratio that’s no as long and so allows for better starts.
But then I read some posts and found the NC35 hrc manual and that says to insert the NC30 box into the NC35 as part of the race prep?
My engine has done the crank so the bottom end is coming in bits, I was going to put a NC35 gearbox that I have in it but I’m unsure if I am doing any good now so may just leave it as it is with the NC30 box in it.
Any advice from those that have ridden both or done the swap, remember its purely for track so any preference for road usage isn’t important.
Thanks,

I think for trackdays the nc30 gearbox is the better one.

Have a quick mouch at Paul Blacks post on here
https://www.facebook.com/groups/5345627 ... ment_reply watch the start to see a VFR box in action, lol, and no is not my reaction time
Short circuit i would use RVF box, you will loose to much time off the start, Manx GP and Trackdays, VFR box all the way.

Cheers guys, was just a bit confused why the race manual for the NC35 said to use the NC30 box, guessing its down to the closer ratios once up and running.
Thing is i dont seem to lose much off the line, its actually my strongest part of the start process, I am utter rubbish into the first corner tho!
Hmmm still undecided i could do with selling the RVF box to be honest to help fund the repair bill and got a lad asking about it.
Skinny do you have a RVf box in your VFR? Ally i am guessing you have the opposite seeing as your roads based mainly so a VFR box in your RVF? hence that less than ideal start!

This is all down to preference,And i think Honda got it right i prefer the VFR box,It works the clutch a bit harder but that's life in the racing world.

I swapped the box in my last NC30 UK spec engine for a 35 one. The engine i have now is a 35 with a 35 box. As Hunter says, its personal preference really. My starts are crap so i need all the help i can get, and a shorter 1st gear is a help.
The HRC manual (translated) seems to suggest that the 35 box gears 1 to 3 are longer??? I think the translation is a little off, but from what i understand (I may be wrong) you use
1st (NC35)
2nd 3rd 4th (NC30)
5th 6th (NC35)
To be honest, i dont think swapping gears out etc will make much difference for overal performance. I raced a few guys a couple of seasons back with 30 boxes, and there was very little difference in pickup or speed. I just change the sprockets and hope for the best

Basically if you used a NC30 gearbox you get a worse start (taller gear) but can use first gear at hairpins etc instead because its taller and not quite so abrupt.

Yes this is a good point, I set my tick over at 3k + so when you go into a hairpin the revs stay high

sorry missed these two responses.
I never use first gear after the start, tightest hairpin I encounter is the Melbourne loop at Dono and i use second for this so in that sense i guess a RVF box is going to be better for me.
Are the second gear dogs on a NC35 box a better/stronger design? something makes me think that i have read that they are, but i may be making that up!
