Dumb Question...maybe not??

Post by ffoxsox » Tue Sep 30, 2014 8:28 pm

Hi ,

maybe this is a dumb question but I need something answered :?:
Im a new cb400 super four project 1 owner nc31 frame nc23 engine 92 made 97 jap import.

so far so good.

what battery should it have !!!!! bare with me here......

the so called English manual thats shared around is for a CB1.... and i cant see the answer there anyway.

on the YUASA site it states

CB400F , CB1 89-90 (YEAR ?) = YTX9BS 12 VOLT/8 AH/90 CCA/ L 152 mm X W 88mm X H 106mm
CB400 SUPER FOUR 75-77 = YB12AA 12 VOLT/12AH/135 CCA/ L 134mm X W 81mm X H 160 mm

David silver supplies a CB12AA ??? if it follows form thats a 160mm high unit that just cant fit ...plus its not sealed so

it dosent seem right :stupid:

Im asking because after a fairly lively 70 mile round trip id boiled the battery ( fitted by previous owner YTX9BS)

ill carry on searching the internet for more info,,,, but any feedback would be welcome...ill get back with anything else i find
cheers 8-)

David Silver have updated their battery recommendation to a x9bs based battery

but since ten ive found the NEW YUASA updated document specification

which lists the cb1 as requiring the x9bs

cb400 as requiring the 12aa

AND THE CB400 SUPER FOUR as requiring the YTZ10S ( PERFORMANCE ).. its the same size as the x9bs but packs in
190 cca which is i believe 100 more than the x9bs... obviously there will be the cheaper versions such as exide with its equivalent ...so check the specs out.
