Fuel Tank Breather Valve and hoses

Does the fuel tank breather valve perform any other function beyond preventing a vacuum inside the tank?

The hose that comes from it and separates in to 2 hoses; do they run to no where or do they connect to something at the other end?

It`s an `in only` one way valve, necessary because the NC30 has a sealed fuel filler cap (the NC35 one has a breather in it). The hose splits into 2 via a t-piece and the two hoses finish in different places - one by the alternator cover and the other at the back of the fairing - to create a rudimentary `anti-siphon` set up so that the slipstream passing the end of the breather hose doesn`t create negative pressure in the tank. Typical Honda `belt and braces` overkill...

Please tell us more about the Triumph tank mrrowley. I have been wondering if there are any cost effective/more modern alternatives should my tank one day perish.

It's from a triumph street triple. It'll need a blanking plate making up to cover the large fuel pump fitment that the Triumph uses. It's not really the best choice; it doesn't cover the air box, it doesn't follow the lines of the bike. I'm using it because I have one in the shed and my bike will not be anything like an original NC30. I'm sure there will be something out there that will fit better.

plent of nc30s and tanks about if you look hard, willing to pay the money, probably cheaper to pay over the odds for a rust free one then fabcricate a custom unless you have all the stuff and tools and paint.

just last month i saw some nos tanks forsale, so long as you dont leave water in your tank it should eb fine for another 25 yaers
