NC35 shock

Advice needed. The shock on my bike has covered 25,000 miles. Can this unit be rebuilt or should I junk it? If it can be rebuilt can anyone suggest someone who could do it and an idea of cost. Cheers.

Bin it your be better off with a late NC30 shock if on a budget

Thanks, that's useful to know. Why is the NC30 shock better? Is it a straight swop? Should the NC30 shock be rebuilt or fitted as it is? (bearing in mind it will have done a fair few miles).

Straight swap, get the later one with remote resiviour, and a rebuild would be a good idea!

The late NC30 shock has a remote res and some basic adjustability, the nc35 shock is just crap and non adjustable.

just like the forks too.
NC35 was certainly no "upgrade" apart from in style depending on which way you look at it i guess.

Pardon my ignorance but what does the damping valve adjuster do then? Through a link posted by VFRhooligan I found this on Honda's website

To me it appears to show the range of damping force vs rate of movement at different settings. Also that the RVF shock has substantially more resistance than the VFR one in both bump and rebound.

Thoughts anyone?

Could anyone who can read japanese translate the axis labels?

EDIT - at work I have access to a tensile/compression test machine which can apply up to a ton of load. As and when I've got my stock shock off I'll run some tests on it and see what the performance is like. If anyone has a spare 30/35 shock kicking about that they could lend me I could do some comparison tests.
