went for a ride with the wife today, her bike started no trouble got 5 miles down the road to a village pub and the bike was dead, had a drink whilst thinking what to do and it started fine again, stopped at a shop and the same happened again, its got a new battery so that shouldnt be the issue. little bit lost on this. cheers in advance

Re: cbr400 rr charging issue
Check it charges above 13v at 5k revs.. simple starter for ten.,
it probably won;t and so your rectifier is dead or your genny is dead..or, both.

Re: cbr400 rr charging issue
It can only be two things can't it?? Generator or Reg/Rectifier.
Unplug the rectifier and check the connections really well cos at a glance mine looked fine but was actually fried!
My money's on your generator being dicky.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: cbr400 rr charging issue
I had no experience with changing the Genny but found it easy to do. I bought one from Electrex. You get all the bits but have to put the plug on the end. Have you tested the three yellow wires from the Genny? they should be around 50v AC. The Haynes manual describes the method of testing.
