Nc24 cooling system

Post by CaffeineSage » Wed Jul 23, 2014 7:01 pm

Hello people...im new to this site/forum, its good to know there are other people who love these little 400 beasties as much as I do! Ive owned my nc24 for a few years now and it's cost me an arm and a leg in that time, but its been well worth it! However I'd like to learn how to do a few more things on it to save some cash.
So im having a problem with my cooling fan at the mo, as soon as i turn the ignition on the fan comes on...I dont think its a major problem but if anyone can throw me some ideas as to why this could be, id be very grateful! Also if anyone knows where to get a stand for single swingarmed motorcycles nowadays, that would be useful too. Thanks and all the best!

Has it always come on with the igntion (in which case somebody has modified it?) or did it just start one day?

The fan is controlled by a temperature controlled switch located on the left hand side of the radiator (when sitting on bike)

You can see the fan switch here.

It is only 1 wire.

Remove the wire and see if the fan stops.. if it does it sounds like your fan switch is faulty. They are not cheap to buy new but sometimes crop up secondhand as they fit a few bikes.

If it's not the switch, then you most likely have a short somewhere.
