NC35 Pilot jet issue
I have got my carbs apart giving them a once over before the bike is back on the road. I notice that my pilot jets are all the way in, so I went to set them to the standard 1 5/8 turns out but it seems extremely loose as though it will set itself free if I leave it.
Anyone else had this or is it normal for them to be like that?

You mean screws not jets, if someone wound them full in, then they may have left the spring out, and the O ring and tiny washer.

I'm pretty sure it's a pilot jet. Looking at Cammos guide for the NC30, there only seems to be the jet/screw.
Either way, I have no spring on it so I'm guessing that's why it's so loose. Where can you get them from?

The pilot jet is inside the fuel bowl and is tightened fully down, but the pilot screw is on the out side [nc30] or under [nc35] of the carb.

Out of interest, why would them being wound full in mean they might have left the spring, oring and washer out?

Any one that winds them in full in does not know what they are there for [thinks they blank some thing?] so it is likely they assembled them wrong.
It must have run poorly low down as it would have been very rich.

Haha true. The spare set of carbs I got had two wound in, two at stock...I was so very condused

The screws on the outside seem to be set ok, I just misunderstood about the pilot jet inside the carbs...feel a bit of a fool now haha!

Do not confuse foolish with training/education.
I was once that very same fool, as a spotty faced youth 53 years ago working on my first bike [Bsa Bantam]
My brother said replace the needle jet if does not pull, so I replaced the needle by mistake.
The main jet is fitted into the needle jet, so then I replaced that, but third go I replaced the right one.
Honda set the carb pilot screws at the factory when new [on an air flow meter?] so before removing them, screw them in to count the turns, as they will be close to spec, but maybe plus or minus 1/8th or so different,
