Hi Guys,
Not sure if anyone has had this issue b4 and if it has, sorry for re asking. My NC 30 is giving me a headache in 2nd lately

If I take off from standstill with haste, she gets to 2nd and wont shift up. gearlever is rock solid. to get out of this, I have to clucth in, down shift and then up shift to pass 2nd. I sometimes have to do this a couple of times to get to beyond 2nd (can be very embarassing)

. Then there are times when this doesnt happen at all

. If I take off from standstill moderately, she seems fine. this however can be annoying especially when you wanna drop it like it's hot.
Advise welcome.
When I last had the engine open, everything looked fine in the box, no rounded or damaged dogs, gears looked pretty good too. I don't use the bike too often (take it out now and again to play with).

Maybe a slightly bent selector fork?
Or you could be hammering it too hard into 2nd and it doesn't like it.

Have you had the gear linkage off the shaft.
If so have you put it back in the correct position,
There are marks on the shaft and lever,And must be in alignment.

Hiya
A while ago, the gearlinkage rod di slip as the nut cam loose. I did put it roughly back to where it was and I don't see any markings on the housing. Will double check to make sure though. Can't take it out for a spin tho as I have all my panels off for a espray at the moment.

The marks are not on the housing,
There is a punch mark on the end of the gear shaft,
And the same on the gear linkage arm.

Kewl, I found the two punch marks and I was a spline out. I did realign it and will take the bike out for a spin tonight and see. However, would one spline tooth cause such a major head ache. Will keep yall posted once tested.
Thanx for the help so far

Buy the time that one spline is multiplied at the end of the lever you will be surprised how much it is out.

Hiya Bikers
Okay, I only managed to take her out for a spin yesterday as I just put back all the panels and had to charge up my battery after it being off for so long. When I got out the driveway, it did the usual stick in 2nd and I tought walalala

. I did my usual drop to 1st and then up change and she went fine. Drove around quite a bit after that and she didnt trouble again.did some kwik pull offs, some moderate pull offs and some granny pull offs. I'm hopeing that's it

will keep yall posted.
Thanx a stack
