Mid range dip - what can be done?

Post by GlenR » Sun Jul 07, 2013 12:36 pm

Heya, Had a bit of a search but didn't hit on anything specific.

So my rvf has a 3/4 racetune exhaust and its jetted well according to RB. Runs good and all except around 5-6k rpm where she runs pretty rough i guess, the exhaust note quietens quite a bit as well before it comes on super strong at 6 to redline. Also runs sweet below that.

I'm commuting on the bike at the moment so the dip is pretty annoying as i always find myself in it so to speak, Is there anything that can be done about it like an add on cdi or replacement one, or is this just an artifact of the 3/4 system.. maybe just the v4 architecture itself? Seems as though its almost certainly ignition related. Maybe something to do with it meeting noise regulations or some such?

Anyway, hopefully you can lend me your knowledge caps  Thanking you!
Glen.

What air filter are you using? Have you had it on the dyno? What jets are in it?
