Hi guys! I'm new on this great forum and a new owner of VFR400r NC21 (My first proper project bike) It's been sitting in my friends garage for more than 5years.
It has survived a lot of typhoons as well. Typhoon Ketsana , Typhoon Parma , Typhoon Megi And alot more! (BTW I'm currently in the Philippines, But I'm from HongKong.)
Now my goal is to revive it and put it on mint fresh condition. (Or until it runs properly.)
(I've replaced the CDI and that's the only thing so far.)
I'll be posing some pictures and will be asking some questions regarding this project. Thanks 400GreyBike, and 400GreyBike members for this opportunity.
Here's a picture of my bike when I got it. (It's a mess. Submerged in flood for few days)

Here's a little story.
When I got this bike, there's no spark, rust everywhere and electrical is f**ked. Try everything. In the end, I've replaced the CDI. And it runs. But the thing is, it runs poorly, I Drove it for few mins(5-10) and it suffers from overheat.
There's no Idle. It starts at 4,000RPM and engine dies after few seconds. After it dies, it won't run for few hours, sometimes few days. Tried adjusting the idle, But it just won't balance.
(Recently) the gear shifter broke, and the nuts body is stuck inside the frame. (Due to rust)
I'm not a mechanic. But I can fix simple things and I'm willing to learn. To be honest, I don't trust mechanics here in the Philippines. The reason is Before, they steal parts on my ride (it happen a lot of times) and sometimes they don't know how to fix big engines.(They usually fix scooters or small motorcycles, like 100cc - 150cc.) That's why I came to you guys. I've learned alooooot from this forum and I am very thankful for that.

I've noticed that many people have been reading or passing by this thread, but no one seems to be interested. Can't understand why?

Hey Jeff,
Welcome onboard :)
The bike was flooded eh..?
ref the fuel - have you checked the vacuum line is on the right tap? Should be on the outer one, not the middle one...

Hi. My NC21 has also stood for about 4-5 years and it is in need of refurbishment and revitalisation. Did the carbs two weeks ago and took the forks off this weekend. will have to redo them completely. I am curious as to how you have progressed thus far with your bike. maybe we can help each other out.
Best regards
