Hi guys first post here!
I passed my full license on the 15th on January, 4 days before the new law as I'm only 17, and bought a NC23 mid April and when I went to view it, it was running fine and started on the button, but needed work. I got it home and made slow progress over a few weeks, started with replacing the choke cable, removing fairings, sorting out sticky throttle cable, and replacing and bleeding the front calipers.
A couple of days ago when I tried to turn the bike over for the first time it wound not fire, I managed to track down the problem to the fuel pump not being turned on when the engine was turning over, tested the pump by jumping the wires and it operated fine, so I bought a new relay off eBay and it arrived yesterday, so I fitted it and turned the bike over, surprise surprise the pump starts, only problem is, the bike STILL refuses to fire, it turns over and the pump starts, but just no fire, I have checked the obvious being CDI, reg/rec, and of course the kill switch .
I just have no idea as to where the problem could lie, any ideas 400GB? As I would love to have the bike on the road this summer!
:rocks:

Hi mate welcome to the forum! First of all does your bike spark at the plugs if not check the pulse generator, if it's not connected then there will be no spark! Hope this helps! :peace:

Cheers for the welcome, I've checked the HT leads and get a spark from all of them, also checked the plugs, and the bike is sparking, a few days ago I tried testing the fuel pump, as I assumed the bike wasn't getting any fuel (again) so I tried running the pump but pumping fuel into an external container, and I wasn't too impressed with the result, it spurted out fuel, but not as I constant flow or continuously, I'm now putting my bets on a dodgy fuel pump :( Cost be costly, could this be an electrical problem to the pump? Will check the connections with a multimeter later.

try running the bike on gravity feed if the tanks got enough fuel in. Just bypass the fuel pump all together and connect it direct to carbs

Hi there,

Seeing as it was running and starting on the button and you didnt touch anything engine wise i reckon its 2 things. Dirty plugs due to drained battery. Mine fouls the plugs if i dont trickle charge it after it hasnt been ridden for a few weeks. Pull out the plugs, clean them, reinstall them and charge battery overnight. Try and start her then should fire up. You might flatten the battery trying again and therfore you will have to pull plugs again but it will start eventually. They are pigs to start after being left idle for a while.

Have you checked the float valves they might be shut and not sending fuel or stuck
