Bingle fix: first question of many: Master cylinder

Race bike crashed. Needs fixing. The front brake M/C is actually not too bad but getting the parts (reservoir etc) to fix it costs a lot.

I have seen many messages on this forum of people favouring a 5/8" M/C over the 14mm jobby. Got knows why the imperial vs metric thing but anyways, it is a strange world.

Will this do it? (I do not like the feel of the 14mm M/C and am happy to try something else):

Local wrecker will charge $120 for some anon M/C from an NC30 they have .... or I can get the above $160 new + postage. Well .. easy choice. I just have to make sure the new one is going to do the job.

All help appreciated.

No, that's a clutch m/c!

I've bought new nissin master cylinders in the past from yahoo japan, from memory they were a bit over AUD$200 landed but that was a few years ago.

Doh!! Head slap. D*ckhead me. That is what you get for posting on forums late at night after beers at work and then then wandering into garage all doey eyed looking at recent mishaps.

Maybe:

But .., a 5/8" piston on 7/8" will do the trick.... ?
