Hi everyone. So, I'm 99% certain that by Saturday, I'll have my very own CB400 Super Four - my first 'big' bike after my trusty Suzuki 125cc that I've been riding to Leeds and back since 2009 :)
Anyway, I'm already thinking about customising the bike - but I'm no mechanic. Willing to learn and tinker though, and with a bike from 1995 that's pretty much guaranteed, even if it is a Honda.
One of the first things I want to do it maybe put on a round headlight. The 'Version R' I'm getting has the bikini fairing and the rectangular headlight, which I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of (it's like this, see here - http://www.motorbikespecs.net/images/Ho ... 2-95_4.jpg). It might grow on me, but if I we're to buy a headlight assembly off a pre-Version R, older CB400, or another bike or just a 'generic' round headlight for that example, how easy would it be to put that on in place of the rectangular one do you think?
I'm pretty sure I can handle the nuts and bolts side of it and get something fixed on there, I'm just wondering if the electronics could cause me problems or of there's anything I should watch out for?
Cheers everyone,
Rich

Re: Fitting a new headlight to a Version R
Did you get it? If so where are the photos?
Problem you may run into is the wiring, from experience with faired bikes, you'll find all the wiring tucked up and sheltered in a box on either the left of right side of the fairing, on naked bikes the wiring is usually sheltered inside the headlamp lens.
Also, but not sure, but the R has a fuel gauge, so might be some extra wiring to contend with.

Re: Fitting a new headlight to a Version R
I did indeed get it, last weekend...

Took it out for it's first ride last night, loved it. It feels so big and heavy compared to my old bike but I soon got used to it. A few more rides and I'm sure it'll be like I've had it for ever :)
Thanks for the heads-up about the problems I may run into superv. And yes, the Version R does have a fuel gauge.
To be honest, side on I don't mind the headlight fairing, but I'm still not a fan of the rectangular headlamp viewed from the front at all. If I ever get around to doing anything about it, I'll let folks know.
