Nc30 Fork questions

Post by bluesky9 » Sat Apr 27, 2013 8:32 pm

Hello,

first things first. I am from Germany so please dont be to hard with my english skillst ;)
If this Thread already exists, is discused or has to be switched to a nother categorie its totaly okay with me. I am still reading my way into your huge Forum.
In Germany we dont have a huge VFR 400 Fan base. I can say we have almost no at all. But thats not why i am typing all of this.
So i drive a VFR 400 Nc30 just Stock stuff for a while now. I am so far really happy with my Ride. Wound trade it in for the Word
But my roods now kicking in to change some stuff and Customize my Nc30.
What i wanna do is change my Fork. To be presisly to a Up Side Down Fork like the Nc35 has.

But to find a Nc35 Fork is realy hard and almost imposible in germany. So i tryed to look up wich other Fork can be Build in the Nc30 Frame.
I know that i cant come by to change the Forkbrides as well because the dimensions of the Fork can be diffrent from the Stock Nc30.

My question is wich Fork would come close to fit in.
I dont want to change my Brakes at the Front. So this is the standpoint where i am surching the last Days. A Fork wich uses the Same Brakes. Also i dont want have to buy a nother Rim. It should be a Easy transition. If it is to heavy and at the end to expensive i cant make it.

Dose anyone have an idea, link or thread wich can help me out?

I thank you guys already if someone can read my messtup English stumbly text

Hi,

There are no Up side down forks that will use the same brake caliper or yokes if thats what you mean by forkbrides, easiest way is to fit a complete front end(forks, calipers, discs, yokes etc etc)

The standard NC30 forks are actually very good and you wont gain anything by fitting a NC35 USD front end apart from the looks, other more modern forks will offer some advantage but are not cheap.

NC30 has two types of fork (both are normal style forks)

Later style forks if you do not have are very good, you can get new springs and they will be great.

Overhaul the forks and get professional to setup the dampening and it will ride very good.

RVF NC35 forks use the same components inside as the NC30 forks do.

I don't think there is any upside down forks that will use the same calipers.

RVF NC35 forks require the calipers and doesn't offer any gain apart from looks.

If you do go for a fork rebuild with different internals I'd recommend Graeme France to rebuild them with his race internals or rick Oliver's spring kit.

Both guys have been around 400's and both know there stuff.
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

To know that the Parts a not that difrent from the RVF for example makes me quit happy.

Maybe next Year i totaly Rebuild my Bike in my Basement so that i have the Time to let Someone Setup my Frontend.
