Nc30 overheating

Post by marcus57 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 6:41 pm

Got the track bike 98% there now but I'm having some issues with it overheating , I have swapped over the little sender from the thermostat hosing but that has made no difference.

Left the bike running on the drive for 5 mins on tick over and it was fine , went 120m up and down my road and the temp gauge is off the scale.

I have recently fitted new samcos, Rick O rads and a new rad cap so I'm wondering if there could be a air lock in the system ? How do I get rid of it?

I have had the bike running and been giving everything a squeeze before I posted this but that made no difference .

Did you check the pump was working properly?

Plus may sound stupid but is it just the gauge or is the bike actually hot? Could be electrical, my gauge plays up when I turn my lights on and off and stuff.

I'd say it were electrical then, it should burn your finger if it's over-heated.

So it would be with fitting another temp gauge and see if that is any better ?

Possibly, could be a short in the wiring though, you'll have to get a multimeter out.

But I have no idea what you should be looking for where, someone else will know though.

Cue magg, thunderace or Neo......

I'm lucky that my dad is a mechanic but I can't get hold of him tonight , I was hoping it would be something simple that I was missing , running out of time as my trackday is Monday , although I have enough spares just not a lot of time .

Is it spitting all the coolant out when you turn it off? If it is not bubbling out then it is not "too" hot

Sounds electrical to me too - and you don;t need the gauge on track, it will be getting a lot of air through it at speed, just be careful to cool it on the in lap and to stop it asap when you get back off..job jobbed,
