Cbr shock in to an rvf
I've just picked up a very cheap cbr600 2006 rear shock to fit to my RVF project, is this the shock that will need a little shaving the top mount and the unused bracket on the frame filing down a little??
I'm not bothered about the shock being as amazing as a maxton right now.... Just better than the old unit already fitted, I don't know much about this conversion I just happened upon the cheap shock and thought I'd give it a go!

I believe you need to cut the battery box and get a smaller battery for these. It's the BMW shock that needs little mods.

I've already got a lithium ion battery for it, and put the shock settings back to standard.

I think the battery box is what will be in the way of the piggyback reservoir. So it'll need cutting out basically, but someone else will know more

Yep you will need to cut the front left corner out of the battery box but dont cut off the undertray mounting lug!! Its quite self explanatory when you offer it up.

Reference the spring, is that close or way off, I'm 100kg ish

Stock CBR spring is too soft for the NC period, your need around a 800lbs spring and ideally the shock revalved.

Well took about 4 hours but got in on, a few things I had to do which I couldn't see posted on other threads ill detail below;
The fork that the shock slides in to at the top mount is a little wider than is needed for the cbr, I shimmed it with some large washers.
The remote is a VERY close for to the subframe, it sits between the lower and upper part of the subframe and essentially has zero clearance on the bottom edge of the remote!!
I had to dremal off the bracket on the left hand side just next to the reg/rec, god knows where I'm gonna relocate that to?
You can't use the Rick Oliver rvf ride height spacer with this shock as the remote then fouls the subframe, I believe the cbr shock is longer though so this shouldn't matter, although I forgot to measure it in m haste?
Once fitted the sag adjustment is VERY hard to access... But adjustable with a great deal of messing about!
Ill be getting it resprung when it's fully on the road and I drop it off to get the from shocks done all in one go.
Ill get some pics up probably tomorrow.
