Post by edtheplumber » Mon Dec 10, 2012 12:02 am

I have just removed my rocker covers and instantly noticed a small 3x5mm dowel or roller nesting in the corner of the front right cylinder!

Won't be able to confirm for sure without seeing a pic (I usually just host them with someone like imageshack and embed the link here) but it sounds like one of the locating pins for the backlash gears on the camshafts. Not sure how it could get out though, but I'd remove the camshafts and check if one is missing. The backlash gears are just held on with a circlip.

Cheers
Luke

That'll definitely be it then. The pin can look like it is a fixed part, so the previous owner might not have realised it was removable and it juts rattled loose. Maybe check the others if that is the case
