advice needed replacing forks

hi all,
i need to replace the forks on my 30
ive got a set of replacement forks which have had new seals etc
now i dont know how to raise the bike enough to get the old forks off
my brother lost the fixing bits from the abba stand so cant use that
any ideas on what to use to raise the bike??

or anyone in london who can lend me the abba bits?

I use a car jack under the pipes below the sump, use a piece of wood between them so you don't damage the pipes. With the side stand down it raises the front wheel off the ground plenty to remove the forks.

so place a plank of wood directly under the pipes? or in a way that the jack doesnt touch the pipes?

Yeah I use a piece of wood between the jack and the pipes so you don't damage them.

Some peeps on here have also said they put an extra piece of wood between the pipes and sump to prevent the pipes from bending.

Aye, a set of axle stands on the pegs to stop it wobbling side to side and then jack it on the pipes.
