Hi guys, planning to buy one of these, change the spring and replace my stock Showa.
How easy is the spring replacement? I already have spring compressors from a Vw job, and a good vice,

Doubt your do it with car spring compressors although i have managed it in the past on a NC shock but you will scuff the paint, get a set if bike specific compressors and its a doddle.

Don't bother with car spring compressors, you'll not get a proper fit and you'll damage the powder coat. £25 for a set of proper compressors is cheaper than repairing the damage.

Also, don't bother with the S1000RR shock if it's stock, you won't notice much improvement as they are soft as fuck. Ideally you need it re-valved and re-sprung to make the most of it. You'd be better off spending another £80 on what that will cost on buying a Nitron or Maxton.

Where can you get a nitron for 180 GBP?

Not wanting to start a row but its a mighty bold statement that, most of us that have it fitted realise that maybe it will need revalveing eventually however, being around 11stone and having changed the spring its noticibly better than a stock 30/35 shock. And for £135 its a welcome interim replacement.

Have you had a go on a 30/35 With one fitted steve?

an ohlins shock is but a dream.

Guys, I'm not an expert racer, just a road rider seeking a better shock. My guess is that with the increased height and a spring that suits, I will notice a huge improvement.
Now, once I have compressed the springs, how easy is it to remove? Does the end collar simply screw off the shock or do I need to dissemble further?
I can do simple stuff, but if it gets technical, I will just save longer for a Maxton :-)

Just compress spring enough to lift the captive holder out. Thats it fitting is reverse of disasemble.
