33bhp Restrictor Kit

When fitting the 33bhp kit under the carbs, would you recommend buying a new set of carb rubbers ect to make the job easier?

Any tips and advice would be great also. I've had a read of the carb jetting guide and will be using that to help me get the carbs off and stufff.

For the cost of them and how much easier they make then job then yes I would recommend it.

People seem to recommend the RVF rubbers as opposed to the NC30 ones.

Which I find odd as the RVF carbs are fractionally smaller, and the even and odd cylinders different ones. Presumably the external diameter of the carbs and inlets is very similar of not that same, despite the RVF carbs being 2mm smaller diameter in the body?

Rick has them on his list as a set of genuine parts, and you can still get them from Honda dealers too. I don't know what the difference between the two RVF ones is. They are a different price, but the it's oddly very common for handed parts to be different prices - the fork legs on an RVF are half as much again from one side to the other!

NC30 all cyls: 16211-ML0-720
NC35 cyls 1+3: 16211-MR8-900
NC35 cyls 2+4: 16221-MR8-900

Where are you getting information from speedy? Would you also recommend new clamps too or just the rubbers?

Rick's price list is stickied at the top of the 'V4 - general' section.

For UK parts I usually check with David Silver Spares (.co.uk) to see if they are available, or if you want loads of stuff depending on the exchange rate it can occasionally work out cheaper to get them from CMS (cmsnl.com).

As for the clamps, they are 16219-KE7-010 for the NC30 and 16219-MR8-900 for the 35. Allegedly the NC35 ones are better, but I cannot comment on that as I have no experience. What I can suggest is that you take a good look at the ones on your bike as much as you are able to before doing the job. When I had the thermostat housing off mine a few weeks back, it looked very much like some of the clamps on my NC35 were badly corroded, and would be very unlikely to survive the ordeal when I replace the carbs at the end of the month. Fortunately the spare set of carbs I have has a set of clamps (well, there was one missing, so I ordered a spare, plus another for luck!), so it's not really a concern for me. However, if I were you I'd make sure you're not going to find out at the last minute you need a few new ones, but don't order a whole set on spec. DSS have sufficient in stock of the NC30 type, but seeing as you need 8 regardless of what type you are using, at £3.95 ex vat and another six quid on top for shipping, that's a lot to shell out for an off-chance of needing any.... RVF type are £4.84 ex, and up to a week's lead time. I suppose that it's not out of the question that jubilee style clips could be used, but there's probably a good reason Honda chose a different style!
