NC35 learning/modding

Hey Guys,

Lost my license for 6 months and have decided to use this time to do some learning, cleaning and mods to my NC35. I sold my 600rr so have some money to burn.
I don't want to spend heaps of money on the bike by giving it to workshops, I would like to do the work myself as I have an empty 2 car garage and am pretty
handy with a set of tools.

I have had a major service done (Don't think the carbs were worked on) and have a full Tyga exhaust system with a maggot end can on the way.

A few questions about my planned mods.

I have read that with a new exhaust system an increase in jet size would be recommended? How do I identify what size jets I currently have (The bike was 100% stock when I bought it but I cannot be sure) and what size jets would be recommended?

I would also like to change the rear shock, the current bearings in there are squeaking and need replacing so it would be nice to give the toy some new bounce.
The 600rr shock transplant looks enticing due to price but I may need to re-spring it for the NC35? I am not sure whether it is worth the effortand money in making it fit or just purchase a Nitron/Hagon/Maxton mono shock? I weigh 85kg and am 6 foot tall, would like to get some feedback based on experience from you guys.

Front forks are in good shape, seals are fine and there are no leaks but thinking about purchasing the Rock Oliver fork rebuild kit as well, I've only ever heard good things of his parts and I wouldnt mind making the front end match the rear once it's changed. Am I right in my thinking here?

Hi. time well spent on the 35 will be worth it.
Firstly, you never heard a tyga pipe with a maggot have you ? i guess it wont be on for long - it is offensively loud - try removing the can from your standard system and revving it hard - there you go.
If the bikes now standard then assume the jetting is 108's all round, loads of threads here about 35's and jetting, and with a standard tyga full system with a normal can i would be looking to goto at least 112 all round to start with.
A quality shock is deffo worth doing. the CBR one will require hacking up the battery box to fit, not ideal unless you are going to ruin the looks of the 35 with an aftermarket tail end ?
i got a maxton on mine and 5'10 and 15 stone works well. hyperpro springs in the front of my RVF too. makes a massive difference, the front may be USD forks, but they are not really as good as the later NC30 items IMO

CRM, I have a slightly damaged tyga tail which might go on. The current tail piece is damaged and just holding together. I am struggling to find a non shit replacement tail that doesn't remove the pillion seat (My girlfriend loves going on rides with me)

I've heard good things about the maxton, costly getting it to Sydney though

I thought the 30 & 35 had the same forks, I will look into the 30 forks. I've seen the hyper pro internal kits on eBay. Think I might just order a set for future work.

What would be the best way to get a hold of bearings for the rear shock assembly? I get my haynes manual tomorrow so if its covered in there feel free to ignore.

I'll take some photos tomorrow as well so I get a timeline going.

I am 100% going the west racing colour scheme, I think it looks awesome and should go well with silhouette head light!

If you wanna take passengers keep with the stock tail unit, some good 2nd hand panels should'nt be too hard to find.

2nd hand full race maxtons go from £300 upwards, non remote res road type shocks can be had for less.

30 forks are RWU and 35 forks are USD but pretty much the same internally.

Bearings for the shock linkage can be had from any honda dealer or rick oliver, you will need a press to remove and refit them tho, please dont use a hammer!

I got a silhouette nosecone going spare, probably not worth shipping it all the way to oz tho, try webike for a quote on one.

The rick oliver site isnt the best and am wondering whether he ships to aus? I will bundle this all together as I believe he sells shocks as well.

Thanks for the really quick replies, I will put a list together tonight and do the maths (Damn British pound is worth too much!)

As for now I really want to get the whole thing super clean and am contemplating getting the whole frame and swingarm done in a matte black finish to really give it a darker edge with the west theme.

Rick Oliver certainly ships to Oz, I've used his service many times.

112 main jets (or even 115's with the maggot) would be fine for that setup. PM me if you're looking for main jet suppliers in Oz.
