bike not running after replacing inlet rubbers

Post by badgerskunky » Tue Oct 02, 2012 11:46 pm

hi guys im new hear but wondering if anyone can help me?
i just changed my inlet rubbers as my nc30 was running on 3 cylinders and told this was the problem after new spark plugs and checking all leads. one rubber was split.
i changed all 4 rubber for new ones but now the bike wont run right at all. it dosent want to start and when it dose it dose nothing if you pull back on the throttle unless its really slowly.
any ideas if i put carbs on wrong or traped something??
new to mecanics on bikes but really wanna get out on the road with this grate bike.
any suggestion would be grate
thanks

Sounds like it could be flooded.
Don't touch the throttle when trying to start it.
FULL CHOKE. NO THROTTLE.

Sounds like the carbs aren't seated properly to me or rolled the rubber up so air is getting in when its running and causing it to die when you rev it.
Spray some wd40 around the bottom of the carbs when its running and if the revs change then there not seated proper.
Just take them off and make sure the rubber inlets seat all the way round without gaps.

Without seeing it then it really is impossible to be sure.

Since it is worse now you have messed with it there is a good chance you havent put it back together right.

Even with a split rubber though it should still run on all 4 most of the time.

When the carbs were off did you strip and clean them properly? if you have eliminated plugs then its likely that the carbs pilot circuit is blocked.

my money again is the fuel vacuum pipe on the wrong nipple of the fuel tap.
connect it to the outer (furthest on the right as your sat on the bike) nipple and not the breather nipple on the middle.

^^^^ this^^^^^
id remove the carbs and start again, go through the setup guide by cammo just to check everything is in order, make sure the carb rubbers are facing the correct way etc , when there refitted check by using a torch up under the carbs that they are fully seated in the rubbers , and as crm said make sure the vac hose is on the correct spiggot on the tap , full choke and no throttle give it a few blasts on the starter then she should fire up no problem
