Thermostat

Post by lee.pb » Sun Sep 16, 2012 11:13 am

Hi, again
Would you remove the thermostat on a race / track bike?
Have done this on my classic mini but had to fit a sleeve where the thermostat was to reduce flow.

I removed it on my race bike, takes a bit longer to warm up but the theory is there's less restriction for recirculating water.

Think I've found the route cause of rce bike over heating, someone has cut into the water pump hose and T'ed off to the oil cooler but fitted a zip tie after the T to restrict the flow and force water through the cooler.
Why don't some people just do it right the first time and drill and tap the water pump housing, I wouldnt mind but they have done it right with drain bolt.
