1989 Re Jet?

Post by woodsman » Tue Sep 11, 2012 9:54 pm

Hi all, i have an 89 vfr which i am attempting to sort out over the coming months. Have a spare set of carbs which i am going to prepare for the bike. The bike is standard and i am happy to keep it that way.
What would be the best combo of jets ? I had a look at one of the main jets this evening and 125 was stamped on top. How much are the jets each?

Follow the guide.

1989 stock jets are 110 so its been messed about with. Is the air filter / air box / exhaust stock?

Is it actually broken? Golden rule is dont fix it if it isnt broken.

Unless youve changed the setup or its running poo then get it dynod first and see where you stand. If not revert to stock settings from the carb guide and go from there.

The carbs in the bike are standard 110. It's the spare carbs that have the 125s in.
Was thinking the 125s would be too big with my standard exhaust and air box.
Will prob re-jet as per later jap models 115/118.

Ah I understand.

I changed my 1989 from 110 to 115/118 initially with a stock system and went to 118/120 with a Yamamato 1/2 system.

Fuelling is spot on (almost as good as FI) on the dyno. Rides well too
