HRC Overflow

Post by iDemonix » Thu Aug 30, 2012 12:03 pm

My NC30 has been spewing out water when it gets hot lately and covering the RHS of my fairings in white powdery water substance. I've started stripping the bike and discovered that the rubber pipe from upper rad to expansion tank had a split in it, I tried pulling the hose off the rad and it split in half.

So, what's the point in the HRC overflow mod? Where do people put the bottles? Is there any difference apart from a few grams of weight saving? Also, I assume that water can flow too and from the expansion tank, but with the overflow mod it can only flow to it, meaning if a lot of water ends up in the bottle, have to refill the rad?

D'OH.

Well, looks like I need a new upper rad. Annoying as it'll take me a while to save up so looks like I won't be attending the 400GB meet up at the moment :(

I'd see if you could get that welded if you have a friendly workshop nearby. Unless the rest of the thing is really scabby....

It's hit the deck at some point so the other side is bent as buggery, so might be worth getting a new one, depends what they fetch?

If you can't get yourself a new one I have my old set for sale which are usable and all intact?

You might just have to swap the rad cap over though (mine's a bit funny).

They're in my for sale thread.

I can split them and you just take the top if you want, I'm sure someone on here or eBay might want just the bottom.

Only problem with the top is the rad cap is pretty tired, it was held down with a bit of gasket goo when I got the bike.
