Can a nc23 be competitive
Can a nc23 be competitive against a zxr400?? My bike has gf pipes, replica short stacks, cbr6 rear suspension updated front springs, etc but just gets mullered by 75bhp zxr,s, I wanna keep my nc23 but losing faith, if I can't match the power I need to put the 23 to bed I think

Re: Can a nc23 be competitive
Your NC23 with those mods can't really be more than 60hp. 15 extra hp on a bike weighing very little is a lot, so unless you do some serious work you're not going to beat a zxr with that power. I assume those are highly modified, as 75hp from a zxr400 isn't achieved that easily.

Re: Can a nc23 be competitive
The zxr,s in question have full ram air ohlins forks and rear shocks, dynag wheels and are absolute missiles, what mods are available for a 23 to achieve more HP as I can't do more to the handling other than fit mr GF,s fork emulators, and would a HRC ignition boost power?

Add in Race Cams - Ported head - HRC Mapped CDI - Lightweight Wheels - Race Fuel ... Balance bottom end - RVF Pistons ... just shy of 70BHP.
In stock ...
Successful - for sure ....

Food for thought.
Cheers

Re: Can a nc23 be competitive
I've never had great success on the NC23 with open carb set ups.
Always found a super smooth power curve with an air box fitted / modified trumpets / jets etc .... better for short track racing.
Plus critically race headers with balance pipes make a big difference to the power delivery.
Open air box / tray for TT type race applications - yes maybe.
Team GF is not out this year due to a family bereavement and our New Restaurant Opening in Taiwan but my pair of NC23 Race Bikes are all done and ready / waiting for 2013 !!

Scott Travers (I forget what he calls himself here) has done 1.47s at the Island on his 23. I think he spent a bit of dosh with GF

Re: Can a nc23 be competitive
Graeme sorry to hear about the bereavement, my 23 only has 2 meetings left this year then I may be changing classes as I've had this bike for donkeys years, you will probably remember the bike as I was good friends with Chris Dancey who raced for you around 2005/6, I'm possibly going to move to a er6 in the mini twin class as the f400 class is shrinking and I fancy a change! But the 23 has been a great bike and will soldier on with a new rider I'm sure!

Re: Can a nc23 be competitive
Ian - if you think getting a 400 tuned is expensive - wait till you want to tune a mini twin!
I know people who have spent £8k+ on a mini twin tune and are still not competitive!!
IMO stick with Honda reliability.
Regards
Tony
