i was coming home from work on thursday when my bike seemed as though it was running out of petrol switched it onto reserve but still the same, stopped at the garage and filled up but fuel was leaking from somewhere, made it home luckily and the bike cut out,the fuel was no longer leaking, it wouldnt start and sounded as though the starter was getting jammed, so left it till today and now the starter is not making any attempt to turn cant feel the relay clicking when tried either, most of the petrol has gone from the tank, took of the carbs and lhf cylinder was full of petrol, checked the floats and took out the float needle and cleaned but all seems ok, i then unscrewed the oil filler cap and the petrol just gushed out, so i have now emptied all the oil / petrol out, was going to change filter and refill with oil to see if it starts and is ok, has anybody had this before and will the engine be ok or could it be damaged.
thanks scott

Re: engine full of petrol
It's not good.
Depends if any damage was done when the oil was diluted with petrol.
The engine is also hydraulicking, petrol building up on top of the pistons thus the starter not or cant turn the engine over.

The float must be knackered otherwise it wouldnt leak.vfrderek wrote:It's not good.

There is a chance it just became dislodged, OR there was some crap in there that caused it not to seal.
