RVF400 Brake Lights Not Working

Post by hakan » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:57 am

Hey guys,

Have started to get my RVF back together after some of the fairings and other bits were stolen off it.

I have replaced the tail light which was taken, along with the loom.

Now, my problem is that the brake lights aren't working. The tail lights are on but when I hit the brakes it stays the same.

There are two wires coming from the loom that extend out to the battery compartment, that are not connected to anything. I assume this is where my problem is.

Does anyone know what this is meant to be connected to?

I will upload some photos once I find my camera's charger.

Thanks guys.

Hey thanks mate.
I will have a look tomorrow some time.

I am assuming that would just affect the rear brakes though.

My fronts don't work either.

Have you checked the globes from the light set you scored?

Wouldn't be the first time two globes had the filaments go.

Thought about that but haven't done it.

Will get onto it tonight!

Cheers!

Some pics of the loose wires might help diagnose the issue.

Whoops forgot about them. Here they are.

The black connector is the one for the tail light, and the red and black wires with the connectors are the one's that aren't connected to anything.

Length wise, the disconnected wires extend from the tail light connector to the reserve switch for the fuel tank (When pulled straight).
