This has probably been covered but the search button didn't really help me, so thought I would ask.
I have just got some new tyres for my NC35 (second hand but only done 100ks).
The rear is a 160/60 though, will this fit the the standard 525 chain? Some of the threads that I read say they will, some say it wont?
I will be changing the chain and sprockets in the future but just wanted to see if I could put my tyres on first.
When replacing, should I go for the 520 chain? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Should I change my gearing while I am at it as well? Bike will mainly be used on the street with a few mountain runs here and there.

Re: RVF400 Chain and 160 Rear
160's fit no problem if you use a 520 chain, if you still have the 525 chain then Rick oliver sells a spacer kit to space the chain over 5mm so it doesnt hit the tyre.
-1 front on the front sprocket is what most people do although i find it a little peaky for the road, try +2 on the rear instead.

Ahh ok fair enough.
Is there any benefits of going to the 520 chain?

Its lighter, 525 is OTT for a 400

Re: RVF400 Chain and 160 Rear
It's definitely over the top for a 400 but i believe Honda had the wet weight of the bikes in mind when deciding on the 525.

Re: RVF400 Chain and 160 Rear
I've still got the 525 chain which doesn't appear to be in bad condition and a newly modified rear axle to take a 750 wheel, however, what exactly is the chain spacer kit and where/how does it fit?

5mm spacer behind the front sprocket, and the rear is again a 5mm spacer behind the sprocket carrier(i assume, ive never fitted the rear one).
