NC30 Adjustable Levers

Post by donkeybanana » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:35 pm

So I have my NC30 doing the daily commute, and she's running pretty well. I want to make my ride as comfortable as possible, and the levers sit just too far from my fingers to reach without repositioning my hands. I'm pretty sure the current levers are stock, but don't seem to be adjustable in any way.

I've been looking at ebay and other sites, and there are levers going for as little as £30 each that don't have "dead man riding" stamped all over them. But at the same time, the established brands are asking £60-100 each and I'm inclined to spend the extra money to know what I'm getting.

Having said that, I have no experience whatsoever with any aftermarket parts, and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what to go for. I'm currently set on getting myself a pair of CRG Roll-a-Click levers. Does anyone have any experience with these levers, or other similarly-branded levers?

CRG is a pretty good brand. I am a super-snob and love Rizoma, but they are damn pricey and don't make levers for the NC30 anyway.

I think you are wise to stay away from the ebay no-name levers. I have heard stories of people fitting them, swearing all the while that they did it correctly, and the lever leaves the brake on just enough to block that little bypass hole and cause the brakes to overheat and lock. Not cool.

I have seen this first hand. Almost caused a friend to crash at the end of a long straight. I would be wary about any brake lever from a non-reputable source.

I have used CRG and Pazzo's. For my money, The CRG's were much nicer and had the advantage of being folding as well. The Pazzo's were so damn strong that instead of breaking in a crash, they bent the bracket and the adjuster part of the lever. Net result- needed a new pazzo + bracket!

I've had crg's and they were great, though the chinese copies I've seen are identical.

I'm sure the quality of the chinese stuff varies, buyer beware.

Titax would also be worth checking out, quality levers at a more reasonable price than some.

I have the Spazzo's fitted to the CBR and I have to say that I've had not a single issue with them. They also crash well too and the hard anodising is hard. I've had them on about 3 years, I use my bike every day, and there's no wearing on the levers at all. Some proper value for money if you ask me. I'll be fitting a set to my track bike when I'm finished.

Thanks for the input everyone. I had already read a couple of threads of the rubbing/locking issue which made me think twice about the cheap alternatives.

Spazzo? You mean pattern parts of no particular brand? The Titax levers look good, but demon tweeks don't list them for the NC30.
