Hey guys
I'm still having a few electrical issues. After replacing my CDI, starter solenoid and reg\rec my bike rode well for a few months but with a charging issue. I then replaced the stator and the charging issue went away. My reg\rec blew and I replaced it taking lots of care to insulate all the connections to prevent a short. My fan won't switch on for some reason too. So my main fuse has blown and I'm worried about just replacing it. What do you think could be the cause?? I can only strip the bike tomorrow to take a squiz so I'd like to have an idea of what to look for so I can get the problem sorted once and for all.

Could be any number of reasons but I'd start looking for a short circuit.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

What rating was the main fuse, should be 30 amp. Under exactly what condition did the main fuse blow? Did any other fuses blow?
As a starting point for a short circuit check:
Ignition switch in OFF position. disconnect the battery +ve lead. Replace main fuse. Connect you multimeter, set to ohms, between the battery +ve lead and -ve battery lead. Should read >1000 ohms.
If not disconnect rect/reg and measure again, if reading now >1000 ohms fault is in rect/reg.
If resistance >1000 ohm then place ignition switch in ON position and take another reading. Should be >1000 ohms, if not then you need to start disconnecting things.

Thanks very much I'll try that. It just blew shortly after starting it then again with a nea fuse. I ran an extra ground wire from my regulator to my frame and that seems to heve solved the problem for now. I'm doing a few mods this weekend so I'll do a proper test when I strip her down again
