Hi guys im changeing pads on my nc30 , but on all of the calipers i cant get the "pin plug" out and im scared of ruiening the top of it trying to get it out! Its the bit that you need a flat head screwdriver to get out.

Any ideas?? ive tried leaving it in wd40 but no luck

Is it the little 'grub screw' that stops the retaining pin coming out? Try an impact driver, they're a pain in the arse if they haven't been copper slipped last time they were refitted. I'm pretty sure they're dirt cheap for replacements, so don't worry too much about ruining it

aye little screw that sits infront of the pad bolt , its more annoying that its the same on all the calipers!

An impact driver should shift it, if a bit brutal on such a delicate part.
Try a right angled or T handled driver first, as they give better leverage, and Coppaslip screw and pad pin on assembly.
The pad pin may also be tight, so use a tee bar drive on the Allen socket bit.
That way, less chance of rounding the socket head as you can hold the bit straight, with equal pressure on each side, rather than it pulling one side if a breaker bar is used.

Had to result to putting a counter turn screw through them to get them out but there out !!! , I did however find a small thin " guide esq " bit of metal in the rear calliper thats gotten squished by the pads. Is it pivital ? as i cant find it in my workshop book or haynes manual. But ive found it here on a parts list. Its number 5 on the list.

It does get squished. It's the pad retaining spring.

It stops pad rattle in the calipers.

You can see how it's fitted (under the pads) in one of ricks rebuild pictures in the above thread.

You should be able to bend and arrange it to get it back in.

What seems to have happend is my rear pads have fallen apart litterally ( not sure when they were changed before as ive only had the bike a month) , And this retention spring has fallen into the path of the pistons and gotten damaged , and split.
