Open carb tune.

Post by Em sea 19 »

I couldn't find anything with search.

I am racing this bike.

I've got a tyga full system.

I need some tips on the carb setup and where I can source a carb tray.

try that.

Its sometimes better i find to search in google, put in NC30 HRC Carb Set up and there will be a lot of results from greybike that you wont necessarily find by using greybikes search as often the search criteria is too common.

ReverseCylinderJim was making the top tray withthe holes drilled into it and the ridges between the velocity stacks removed.

Carbon infinity do the fibreglass air tray that acts as a heat sheild and sits below the carbs

http://www.carboninfinity.com/nc30-carb ... -p-30.html

And the jets needles and short velocity stacks are all available from RickO,

all you need then is a good dyno operator and a bit of patience taking the carbs on and off and swapping jets and needles etc to get it fueling spot on,

Personally id keep a standard set of carbs that you know work and have an additional hrc set up so that if the hrc carbs start playing up and get tempermental on a track day you can wang the good working standard carbs on and not lose your day.

Also if you put "site:www.400greybike.com NC30 HRC Carb Setup" into Google, it'll only return the results from greybike. ;)

Since that post was made it's easier to go down the road of hrc open carb setup on nc30 carbs as Rick Oliver is now selling replica HRC velocity stacks (an essential part of the setup).

This is what you'll need:

- HRC velocity stacks
- HRC emulsion tubes (or modify some standard ones)
- #40 pilot jets
- 145 main jets
- HRC needles (8zf or 8zg will be fine), try 0.5 and 1.0 mm washers
- pilot screw set at 1.5 turns out
- HRC air tray

Rick O can supply replica parts of most of these parts. You can often find replica air trays for sale on uk ebay, or place a wanted ad in the classifieds (the genuine part is flexible plastic which helps when refitting the carbs, most replicas are fibreglass). Grinding and drilling the top carb bracket is not essential but it does look cool. 8-)

This setup will work well, it feels to me like it gives an extra 4-5 hp over the standard type carb setup and a decent increase in torque also. Sounds great too!

lol!

The nc35 hrc carb setup is simpler than the nc30. You'll need the complete hrc carb kit (slide springs, needles emulsion tubes, jetc etc), again Rick O sells replicas of these which is good value.

You'll also need a suitable airbox lid, tyga sells a nice looking one: http://tyga-performance.com/site/produc ... ts_id=2100

The nc35 hrc setup doesn't use an air tray. Whichever carbs you end up doing, you'll need to do the hrc fuel tap mod, the standard fuel tap won't keep up with the carb's fuel demand.

That's all there is to it. :peace:
