IGNITECH CDI HELP!

Post by brys » Wed May 16, 2012 4:10 pm

Hi guys,

Back on here again! I need some help with connecting to my Ignitech CDI unit on my NC30. I have attached a picture of it, can you confirm what model it is just so I'm starting out with the right software? I have been using software versions TCIP4 v80 and v75 and both times I get the following message when I open the prgramme with the CDI connected:

'COM OPENING ERROR'
Image

The CDI is connected via a USB to RS232 cable and the ignition is switched on giving the correct voltage to the unit. I have tried selecting the different com ports using the software but I still get the same message. Do you have any advice?

Thanks,

Ryan.

USB -> RS232 can be touchey sometimes.

However, start with the simple, is the cable the right type? It looks like an extension cable to me..

There are two types of 9 pin cables.

A null modem and a straight wired (extension), while they have the same number of pins, they are wired differently inside.

You think a 9 pin to 9 pin cable with a small USB to 9 pin adapter is better?

You also need to make sure you set the correct com port on the tcip software, and also make sure bike ignition is on.

Looking in windows device manager to see what com port its on, the have to match

Also be aware it will only work with one version of the software not both. The ones with a gear shift indicator connection v80 those without v75 (from memory) happy to help if needed.

Hi guys,

Managed to get connected to my CDI now it was the cable in the end! Thought I would add a copy of the map that is on there now. Any thoughts appreciated! Going to dyno on sat and see how its running, changed my induction system back to standard with #35 pilot jets 2.25 turns out on the screws with HRC needles and 120 jets front and 122 Rear. Fingers crossed!
