Hi,
I've recently bought an NC30 track bike which doesn't have the expansion tank. I want to replace the coolant and just thought I'd check on the procedure.
I was planning on draining the coolant and then just refill until top of rad cap, leave the cap off with engine running until all air is dispensed?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Haydn

Yeah exactly that, whilst filling give the hoses a squeeze, it gets the coolant around the system a bit quicker.

quick question ibby , if using the hrc type expansion bottle , do you leave the bottle dry or chuck an inch of fluid in the bottom ?

Not really used the hrc bottle set up but I guess for weight reasons on track you leave it empty but I think 1/4 fill it for road.

Also if you are just going to use it on the track i would just use water, as coolant is very slippy if spilt.

I've been told this recently but it looks like its been ran on just water for years and the shite that's come out of the system after flushing it through was bright orange. As I'm not racing under any regs atm and just track daying I was going to put 50/50 coolant/distilled water as per the manual, but is it really necessary to put distilled water in? I've never botherd with cars, just coolant and tap water.

I always used 80/20 water/coolant mix - I also left the expansion dry as it is smaller compared to OEM.
