hi,
could someone please advise me on a clonk ive been having when pulling away.
The clonk is not on the initial pulling away but clonks a second or so after. Almost like the clutch is slipping and then gripping. but the clutch doesnt appear to be slipping.
Thanks Andy

NCs don't have cush drives - so the chain tension needs to be bob on - have you had a look at it?

Re: Transmission clonk when pulling away
is a bit slack, im thinking mayb the chain and sprockets are rather worn, its getting near the red on the swing arm indicator, its quite a odd clonk not like ive had on other bikes when the chains slack.
Thanks for your reply ill adjust it and see what happens

Re: Transmission clonk when pulling away
check everything is as it should be; No movement in the rear wheel, no movement in the forks does the bike feel loose when riding or slip out of gear?

Re: Transmission clonk when pulling away
Checked what u said, rear wheel bearing is all good swingarm seems good.
forks do have a slight bit of play but i dont think its that. doesnt feel loose or slip.
i adjusted the chain and there is less of a clonk, could it just be worn sprockets and chain and the clonk just be it going back to tension from stopping. or is it clutch related? worn basket i dont know!
maybe i should buy a new sprocket and chain set and see what happens.
does anyone know what size should be on the front. ive gt a 40 tooth on the back.
cheers

Re: Transmission clonk when pulling away
I'm thinking rear suspension bearings. Pulling away will load and unload the needle bearing in particular, maybe that's worn. Lift the rear of the bike and give everything a wiggle test.
