Chain and sprockets ?

Post by kinc » Wed Mar 14, 2012 10:20 pm

After using search on here I'm more confused then ever as to which way to go for chain and sprocket, o,x no o, 520, 525, teeth up, teeth down. My head hurts. :?
From one of my searches this came up. Any good?
Not looking to increase acceleration or top speed just want a fairly good set, prices seem incredible.
All I know is the current one is fekked.

Would I need chain breaker riveter tool?
Can take it too local shop who will supply and fit for £130 (hopefully branded goods).
Any help appreciated.

Nick.

chain http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/chain/dri ... -gold.html

front sproket http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/sprockets ... pg-71.html

rear sprocket http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/sprockets ... g-395.html

Total £92, it will come with a split link and a rivet link. You can fit the split link yourself ride it to a garage and get them to fit the rivet link, shouldnt cost you more than £20. I bet the quote you got from the garage isnt a renthal set.

Cut the old chain off with a angle grinder but undo the front sprocket bolt first

The RVF400 as standard uses a 38Teeth Rear sprocket (15T front), on a 525 Pitch (the NC30 uses a 40T rear).
If you want the standard gearing get this rear sprocket instead of the 40T: http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/sprockets ... g-381.html

You can get the standard 525 Pitch chain & sprockets instead of the lighter 520 Pitch kit as on the above links, but why would you?

Links for the 525 Chain & Sprockets below:

Note: Chain links as standard are 102.

Cheers guys, so ordering the three links that Drunkn Munky has suggested, like I said in op not looking for any gains, got the 675 for madness.
The chain listed is 104 links do I have to remove links or straight on the bike?
I'm slowly gonna get the bike up together. Carb tune done. Chain and sprockets and brake lines ordered and awaiting fitting.
