Got the tank up to start hunting for broken choke cable but I cant get the fuel hose off. It's attached with a screw down clip thing.

There are also two bits to attach the vacuum hose to and I didnt see which one it was on before, which is it supposed to go on, inner or outer?

Finally i dropped the bolt for the tank head inside the frame and I cant find it

Vacuum hose goes on the rear most spigot. The middle one is a vent for the diaphragm.

Screw down clip thing? Mine had a wire spring clamp on that just needed squeezing with pliers.

I got the hose off, was looking at it from the wrong side

Is the choke controlled by a rod on the front right cylinder on it's RHS?

IIRC, it's the spring loaded rods #27 and the link piece (which the cable attaches to) #1

That looks like the same part, anyone know how it actually works so I can switch it on without the cable working?

Have a feeling i was poking it earlier and i've flooded it.

Not easy due to where it's situated. You may be able to fab up a link rod arrangement that pokes out of the side but it seems a lot of work for the sake of nipping down the bicycle shop to get a new bowden cable made up.

You over-complicating the choke.



Take a look at these.

On the left hand side (which is the front of the bike) you can see the choke arm sticking out.. at the end of the arm it has a hole in it for the choke cable nipple to go into.

If you follow your choke cable you'll find it runs through the left hand hole in the frame to the carbs...

Is the choke cable still attatched? theres a clamp near the choke arm that the cable screws down onto so it's unlikely the cable has come off.. more likely the nipple on the end has broken off so the cable no longer pulls the arm.

To test you can tie some string aroud the hole, and pull it open.

Thanks Neo, I thought I was making a mess of things. Have found the guide for rebuilding carbs on the NC30 which I assume is close enough to the 24 for removal if i need to?

Battery on the bandit is on the way out these bikes!

Erm.. yes you can follow that.

float heights are 6.8mm.. don't start drilling slides or using extra washer though, not needed.

You can check jet sizes and emulsion tubes (there different but if you post up what you have i'll let you know if they are right) - don't mix them up, front and rear carbs have differnt parts

Cool, not intending to rebuild the carbs yet, but I have a feeling to get at the choke cable to replace it i'll have to remove the carbs.

Bandit died on the ride in to work this morning Hope it lasts long enough for the new batt to turn up, not like i can ride the other two in!
