The ticking noise is common and doesn't necessarily mean that valve clearances are out in my opinion.

There's only one way to find out though.

The nc30 doesn't suffer the same cam problems as the vf750. Actually, I don't think any other honda model was affected with the same problem.

Thank you very much. ;)

The next week I will control the valve clearance with oil and filter change (Motul 5100)

NC30
lol vipers was a joke :P

the problem with the vfr750 was the oil passage to the top end was crap design and too small.. it was easy to block and have low pressure / no oil to your cams which cause them to wear themselves away :/

Shame really, decent engine baring that (you can replace the top end lines with franken-kits' that look pretty awesome)

On topic.. follow the valve clearance guide... check them even if you don't adjust them.

You can ride it as many miles as you want until it explodes..but putting off vital checks isn't good.. many times you can get away with it damage free.. sometimes small damage occurs and other times it's major damage.

It doesn't take too long to just check the clerances.. at least if you write them down you'll have an idea how much wear is in them..

Hi... i have a quick two questions. Does the cam journal that is in the 'Long hole" on the cam holder actually touch the holder? How is it supported? Also, has anybody ever done anything with needle bearings on the cams?
Thanks in advance,
Robert
