finally got the bike back out today and im getting to 182/183kph and it wont go past it

it,ll do it in 5th at quite a high rmo (forgot to look) and in 6th at 10k so still plenty left

since its revving right out in all the other gears im quite confident its the resticter still in but the fact its going just past 180 is baffling me

ive order a mph converter so ill find out in a few days for sure im just confused and i suppose looking for someone to ease my pain lol

the cylinders actually cut out at 180 - so is it cutting out or does it just not go that fast?

it flies upto 182ish and just doesnt go any further, the front 2 cyclinders stop firing iirc

its weird id expect it to suddenly drop off but it just seems to hold it there

Probably still restricted.

If you know what RPM it goes to in 6th gear then you could disconnect the speedo cable and run without a speedo and see if it rev's past it.

Or take the speedo apart and remove the restrictor.

Does anyone know how much the NC30 speedo's over read? (if any)

I have removed the speedo and have plugged in the resistor on my race bike, but the highest GPS max speed I have ever got is 186kph. Looking at gearing commander for the theoretical max speed with my current gearing, that is actually within the realms of normal/correct!

I think they all vary somewhat, but maybe no more than 10%.

i.e. 200km/h = 220?

How healthy is the bike (dyno graphs?)

Everything working right / how heavy is the rider.

I've personally seen an NC30 GPS's at 220km/h before (which is 135mph) but thats flat-out on the tank on a long stretch of road with a small 52kg rider (just over 8 stone)

Stock JDM 30 too with uk jetting and half system, was dynoed at 58bhp

I can GPS my 30 if you like and give you a comparision although I havn't had it dyno'd yet.

Nah - It's cool! I was just curious :) Anyway, I rechecked my data and actually clocked 193kph at the end of a 1km straight.

Bike was on the dyno a week or two ago, but that was tuning a setup that I have yet to run so isn't worth looking at. Be interested to see what it'll do now. I'm also hauling at bit more than 8 stone about....! Bike is geared down 1T at the front.

That'll probably be why then, smaller front sprocket = lower top speed

Lets say the theoretical top speed of the bike is 220km/h (nice round even figure)

If we divide 14/15 (number of teeth reduced) we get 0.933

Now lets x that by the top speed, which is 220km/h, which gives a new top speed of 205km/h.

Yep, that makes sense!

Here is a handy site for anyone wanting to figure out top speeds gearing changes (plus some other useful stuff)

i never thought about unplugging it

im best part of 19 stone so gearing for top speed would destroy my acceleration lol
